Led a diverse team of four to develop an innovative Android app that generates soil health reports using image processing and deep learning, earning recognition and a 300,000 INR prize presented by the Education Minister and Vice President of India.

About the competition

The UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon is a collaborative initiative that brings together participants from India and African nations to develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges. The competition focuses on leveraging technology to address critical issues in areas such as agriculture, health, and sustainability.

Our solution

We built an Android application that uses image processing and deep learning to generate soil health reports. Farmers and agricultural workers can capture images of soil samples and receive actionable insights to improve crop yield and soil management.

My role & outcome

As team lead, I coordinated development, designed the architecture, and implemented core ML pipelines. Our project was recognized with the 300,000 INR prize and was presented at the closing ceremony in the presence of the Education Minister and Vice President of India.
